One pay period with us.

Five things happen every cycle. You do one of them.

  1. 2 days before paydayYou do it

    Send hours and changes

Hours for hourly staff, plus any raises, new hires, or departures. Salaried staff run on their set amount, so a quiet period needs nothing from you.

  2. PaydayWe do it

    Run payroll

Gross-to-net calculated, vacation pay and stat holiday pay applied under B.C. rules, deposits sent, and a pay stub to every employee.

  3. By the 15thWe do it

    Remit source deductions

Income tax, CPP, and EI withheld last month go to the CRA by the 15th, so there are no late-remittance penalties to explain later.

  4. Each reporting periodWe do it

    Report to WorkSafeBC

Assessable payroll reported and premiums calculated, quarterly or annually depending on your account.

  5. By February 28We do it

    File year-end slips

T4s and T4As filed with the CRA and sent to your employees, with the summary reconciled to the year's remittances.

When someone leaves, we file their Record of Employment within five days of the pay period it falls in.

What's included.

One flat monthly fee covers all of it. There's no separate bill at year-end.

  • Payroll setup, including your CRA payroll account and WorkSafeBC registration
  • Bi-weekly or monthly runs with direct deposit
  • Vacation pay and statutory holiday pay under the B.C. Employment Standards Act
  • CRA source deduction remittances
  • WorkSafeBC reporting
  • Records of Employment when someone leaves
  • T4, T4A, and year-end summary filing
  • Multi-province payroll for staff outside B.C.

Who it suits.

  • Businesses with 1 to 40 people on payroll
  • Owners paying hourly staff, salaried staff, or both
  • Anyone already keeping their books with us, since payroll posts straight to them
  • First-time employers who want it set up right from the first cheque

Where we're not the right fit.

  • Teams over 40, which usually need an in-house payroll function
  • Benefits administration and HR policy, which we leave to your benefits provider

If that's you, we'll say so on the call and point you somewhere better.

Switching from another provider.

Your team shouldn't notice the change, except that pay stubs come from us.

  1. Step 1

    Pick a cut-off

Most clients switch at a month-end or quarter-end. Mid-year is fine.

  2. Step 2

    We bring over year-to-date

Earnings and deductions from your last provider, so every employee's T4 is correct for the full year.

  3. Step 3

    First run with us

We run it with you watching, then you only hear from us when something needs a decision.

Payroll questions.

Yes. We start from a clean cut-off and carry over year-to-date figures, so nothing is double-counted and the year's T4s still balance.

With us, the setup is part of the first month: CRA payroll account, WorkSafeBC registration, TD1 forms, and your pay schedule. Our guide to hiring your first employee covers the same steps if you want the detail first.

Under the B.C. Employment Standards Act: 4% vacation pay in the first year and 6% after five, and stat holiday pay calculated from each employee's recent earnings. We track both every run.

A flat monthly fee based on how many people you pay and how often, quoted after a free consultation. Year-end slips are included. If your headcount changes materially, we re-quote in writing at the next quarter.

No. Payroll on its own is fine, though most clients have us keep the books as well, so payroll entries land in them without anyone re-keying them.
